Last month at the fair....
...there was the coolest exhibit. The Future Farmers of America (FFA--pronounced Eyuf Eyuf Aye. You know, like in that Dixie Chick Song, Goodbye Earl?) put on the most involved and kid-friendly exhibit at the Utah State fair. The kids got to pretend they were farmers and went through the entire process from planting seeds, to picking the fruits of their labors.
Savvy and Cade got to milk a cow and gather eggs from the chicken coop.
They later took their "harvest" via tractor (after gassing it up of course) to the market to sell. They got "money" from the farmer's market and later took it to the store to buy whatever they wanted! Savvy picked chocolate milk and Cade picked a Rice Krispie treat. I was thoroughly impressed. The best part about this exhibit? It was FREE!
Go FFA! I humbly put my head between my knees and grovel for forgiveness for all the times I poked fun at the FFA club in highschool-- my high school was not fortunate enough have an FFA club. I was an ignorant city girl. Hey, we did have the Steppers with Pride, though. You gotta click the link. You will soon realize you're not in Utah anymore.
Savvy on her pony ride. Sure wish I had gotten a photo of Cade with the fish he caught or us on the ferris wheel. Battery died. Good times.

I want to try your version of instant happiness--does the hot chocolate maker really make a difference? Now that you live close I'd like to invite myself over to find the answer to this all-important question... :)
I'll bring the graham crackers and marshmallows to go along with it.
Marse! come on over. I love that we're neighbors. :)
The hot chocolate maker really does make the difference. It mixes AND heats up the hot chocolate. It even has a froth option when dispensing. I about died when it was packed away in storage from January-April.
ps if you're going to bring marshmallow and grahm crackers, we may as well just make s'mores. Got any chocolate bars?
I loved catching up on your blog just now! BTW, we bought a CocoaMotion over a year ago now, and still haven't used it... Now that we're moving into cooler weather, it sounds just perfect! :)
P.S. Yes, we definitely need to get together soon! Date night for the 4 of us next week perhaps? I'll call you! :)
Come for a visit and the kids can come gather eggs at our house! They can enjoy life in the "Gooch!" Miss you all!
Michelle,
Thank you so much for making the trip to come to the wedding! It was so great to actually have some family there! Your kids are absolutely adorable and we are excited to be your kind of neighbors! We would love to get together soon, maybe we could have you all over for dinner. I will let you know when our house actually looks like a house instead of a storage shed.
