Day 2 of MIA Mommy

I may have seemed a bit sarcastic in my last post about Michelle going to Ecuador. That is just me trying to be funny about her leaving. Actually, I am happy that she is able to go do something she loves so much. OSSO is a volunteer organization of mostly college aged girls that want to help underprivilaged children. When Michelle came home from her first visit there she had a collection of stories and pictures of the cutest kids that had been abandoned and had no family. The ages of the children ranged from teenagers to infants literally dropped off on the doorstep of the orphanage.

This trip is different because she won't be there for several months. She will only have the opportunity for a week to go back and visit new kids and hopefully many from her prior experience there. She took 3 suitcases full of stuff like shoes, pants, shirts and other things they don't have much of. I am sure it will be a memorable experience giving such plentiful things here in America to kids who basically have nothing.

Back at the high-ground we are having a rough time. Today we went to Lifetime Fitness for a couple of hours and then made our second trip to McDonald's. It was a successful trip. Cade ordered: chicken nuggets, fries, and a carmel sundae. Savvy shared his fries and sundae. Yes, we are struggling while mom is away but I think we are going to make it. Despite the sad faces of Cade and Savannah, as seen in the pictures, we are coping with this difficult situation.

These pictures are too cute! Yay for McDonald's kids meals... I even get them for myself sometimes. :) I remember when Michelle was in Ecuador the first time. Hope she's enjoying the trip now! What a great cause.

I should have dropped Tyler off at Kyle's Daycare! You are such a great dad and it is plain to see how much the kids enjoy spending time with you. I'll try not to go into withdrawal from my daily phone calls to Michelle.

Savannah looks very happy to be eating fries! They are pretty great and Cade also looks adorable! Cinnabon is amazing and I am so happy Michelle is doing what she loves, she is amazing!

I am sure you will have your pockets full of candy and they'll be just fine. I miss you all!! (and yes, I have found a few little ones to bring home with me in case you were wondering)

Cute pictures! Michellle will be happy to see that Savannah still has her bows on while she's gone.

That's not funny. You know, the note with the kids' schedules, my flight info, etc etc.
count that as my love letter for the week, btw. :-)

yes, it's very important that Savannah wears her bows. Her hair is still thinking about deciding to grow and we do not need to get her confused with other darling little boys.

Hey Kyle, I have a picture on my wall of Savannah without a bow in her hair. She looks great. Kind of like a picture of Richard Petty without his sunglasses and cowboy hat, only different. If people think you dress your cute baby boy in dresses I guess that's their problem.

I used to get Rebecca ready for church when Carol was RSP. My challenge was doing her hair (she was a couple of years old (I'm safe here because Carol doesn't read the comments--she would know how old Rebecca was down to the minute.)) Anyway, be thankful you don't have to worry about curling the hair and putting a berret or two in it.
