The girls and I snuck in the school to do some last minute PTA things and then listened outside Cade's classroom while his teacher was sharing her last bits of wisdom before she said goodbye to her students for the summer.
It was so sweet to hear her use her sporting analogies on the kids. They repeated back to her great thoughts such as "don't let your fear of the ball keep you from playing the game."
She really cares about her kids and that means so much.
Mrs. Almberg was really a great teacher and Cade was blessed to have her. She is one amazing lady.
Walking out the door for the last time!
Cade and Mrs. A.
Of course Savvy had to get a hug, too. She considered herself part of the class.
Cade's bus. He wanted to ride it home.
It's tradition for all the buses to honk over and over and OVER again as they are leaving. This is what Savvy thought of it:
...and Ruby was totally mesmerized...
The 2nd grade teachers bidding farewell.
We hurried and hopped int he car and flew home (going the speed limit of course) and met Cade at the bus stop (per his request, which made it even cuter) and Savvy walked home with him while I took pictures (also per his request)
They really are great friends.
Once we got home we packed up lunches and headed to the neighborhood park for the 2nd Annual School's Out Celebration.
Some sights of the afternoon I couldn't help but capture....
Lollipop with her ever-ready grin
Kai-kai as Ruby calls him. He's one of her favorites.
What is it about boys and taking off shirts? They played soccer -- "skins and shirts" they said. Any excuse to shed the shirt I think. :)
Sav and Kate on the hula hoops...
A typical Ruby expression...
Sweet babies everywhere...
Sidewalk chalk
Melody and Little "Li-Li"
After that party we headed to our house to get ready for a surprise party to say goodbye to one of my beehives, Presley, who moved to Pleasant Grove. It was a good day!
