Just for Kyle: A slice of life

Using the camera Kyle sent us to replace our former beloved picture taker, I took some photos Friday.

A day in the life of the Woodburys Three...
Good morning! Savvy is happily munching on her "breakfast cereal".  We are fully enjoying the benefits of Winder Dairy delivery and have switched to skim. It's YUMMY. You'd think it was whole, Kyle. I swear.

Okay, so the next big chunk of our day was not documented with the camera because I was running around.  I spent the time between about 7:30 AM and noon cleaning the house and getting it ready for the appraiser. The kids had lunch, and Cade zoomed off to the bus stop on his scooter.
Once Cade was off to school, the appraiser arrived. When he left, Savvy and I delivered fliers to all the primary families in the ward about our primary activity the next day. Once back home, Savvy was put down for a nap and I can't remember for the life of me what I did. Laundry? Phone calls? Bills?  Don't remember. Clearly it was life altering. :)  I did crawl into bed when I had about 20 minutes before Cade came home from school so I could give myself the illusion of having taken a nap, but it just proved to be an awful tease.

CADE'S LEGO MAGAZINE FINALLY CAME IN THE MAIL!!!  6 weeks ago or more we sent off for a free Lego magazine. Cade has anxiously awaited the arrival of this. Savvy was so excited to show it to him.  Here they are perusing the pages...

This is a shot of Savvy just after coming inside from trying to get an "all day sucker" from our next door neighbor. She wasn't home and needless to say, Savvy was disappointed.  This shot shows her more surprised that I'm taking her picture than sad. I was trying to get her frowny face as she was coming in the door. No such luck.

You can imagine it didn't help things when Cade came downstairs with a sucker in his mouth that he got from his teacher today at school. She was JEAL-OUS!  He quickly appeased Savvy by giving her the book his teacher gifted him at school (he likes to give people things to make them happy...). Here they are just hanging out in the entryway:

Later Cade went over to a friend's house and I went to the Sunflower Market to pick up grapes (on sale for 88 cents a pound!) and then went to pick up Cade's new bed in the truck. Brother-in-law Jon came to my rescue and loaded and secured it. Once we were all home, the kids were famished. So famished, in fact, that Savvy started eating the core of the pineapple I had just cut up for dinner:

"Mom, hurry, I'm starving!"

Meanwhile, Cade is playing "soccer" with that little bouncy ball.

He doesn't let me take close ups of him, he moves around too much. This was the best I could do.

Dinner is served. Finally. This shows the simplicity of what dinner is like without dad. Pretty basic. Did you know Savvy loves green beans? Only the canned kind of course.  Oh and main dish courtesy of neighbor Rebekah who apparently "made too much manicotti."  I hate it when that happens. :-) I think she was just being nice and made extra. She's so sweet.

After dinner the kids put on their jammies then came back down to help clean up the kitchen. Savvy moved all the chairs so I could sweep the floor.

Cade watched.

Then they played on the rows of chairs together....

After reading stories and scriptures and having family prayer, I tucked them in bed. Not long after, we were surprised with a visit from Uncle Randy and Aunt Kristen. It was a much welcomed visit. The kids jumped out of bed and ran down stairs. They LOOOOOVE their Uncle Randy and Auntie Kristen. In fact Savvy asked me in the car today if I could invite Randy over to play today so she could wrestle him.

At last, sound asleep. Cade's last time sleeping in this bed....

Savvy down for the night, too.

Then I talked to you on the phone, meanwhile snipping grapes for the activity in the morning.  Afterwards I had my token row of Oreos  with a mug of milk and went to bed.

So there you have it. A day in the life of us. We sure miss you, Kyle!

Awww! Marching along rows of chairs must be a universal kid thing -- happens at our house all the time. =) Love that Savvy moved the chairs out of the way for you while Cade watched. Also love the 'token row of Oreos.' =) I'm glad you have such a sweet neighbor who shares when she 'makes too much manicotti'. I want a neighbor like that! =D

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your days. You sure manage to cram a lot in in one day. You do it so successfully too. The kids remain content and even help clean up! Wow. I wish I was even half as graceful as you in my mothering skills.
