White Yard = Brown Bathroom!

Funny how this worked out. I finished the front door (time to hammer in the trim, honey!!) just in time for it to get cold again. It was 50. Now it's dancing in the single digits. With the cold weather forcing me inside, I got motivated to finally paint the hideous bathroom! I couldn't have done it alone, that's for sure. I dropped the kids off at a babysitter's and a girlfriend came over and helped me paint. Three cheers for Lee Jackson King Day, I mean Civil Rights Day, er, uh, Martin Luther King Day....er, whatever the PC name of yesterday's holiday that granted school children and government workers a day off! Without a babysitter and a painting buddy, I may just be finishing up with taping the room! The color is called Decatur Buff-- a Benjamin Moore color. It's a lovely caramel brown-- very cozy and warm.

We got a beautiful fresh covering last night and it's hard for me to be in a bad mood when it snows. Do I have reason to be in a bad mood? Well, not really I s'pose. Kyle's out of town again, which in turn shortens my fuse a bit becuase I know I don't have relief at the end of the day. So, for that reason, I am running low on patience and overall feelings of chill-ish-ness, but since it snowed, everything has been put back into perspective! I get to stay at home with my kids and take care of them when they are sick (happense to be the situation at hand) and I don't have to call in and tell work I can't come in. I can be a mom and not worry about anything else. (well, and then the phone rings, and that not worrying about anything else goes out the window, but it's nice while it lasts!) That's a blessing. Life seems to slow down a bit after it snows (or perhaps it's just me that slows down; in any case, I like it!) and everything looks so beautful. Of course I had to make hot chocolate with my hot drink maker. It's amazing how much euphoria I experinece over such a small appliance. It was my Christmas present to myself, er, from the kids to me. :)

Hopefully tomorrow the kids will be well enough and want to play in the white stuff. Cade got a snow suit from Gramma and Savannah got one from Santa. How convenient!!

That sounds like fun! I love fresh snow and working on projects! You will have to take a picture of the bathroom so we can see the before and after!

You've gotten a lot of painting done this month! Way to go! You want to know something crazy? In Preston, ID they still had school on Martin Luther King Jr Day. My neighbor's a Kindergarten teacher at Preston Elementary and she had to teach that day!

You know, Kyle sure wishes you would have been with him this week. You'll have to ask him about the fondue that you missed out on!!

You're such a go-getter. I love hearing about all the fun projects you're doing at your house! It must be very rewarding work. That's nice that you have friends that'll babysit your cute kids. Who wouldn't when they're so adorable?? Good luck being husbandless this week. Hopefully the time flies so you can see him again soon!

I think your feelings about snow come from your Richmond winters. Everything stops there when the snow comes. Here in Utah they hardly blink.

The holiday's name is seriously defined by where you are. It's Lee Jackson King Day where we grew up, because NO ONE can forget the civil war...hahaha. Well I'm glad you got something done.
