Knock-knock knocking on the Woodbury's door...

We love visitors! Unfortunately, our home isn't really visitor-friendly. Sure, everyone tells us, "Aww, put me on the couch," or "Don't worry, I can sleep anywhere!" But really, anywhere really means anywhere quasi-comfortable with a bit of privacy.

Take your pick at Chateau Woodbury....

A. Our Super-Queen bed -- note that it is also Super-saggy in the middle. Your best choice. Kyle has yet to relinquish his throne for a visitor. Not even his Grandma! So, you would be sharing it with at least one other person. I'm okay relocating to option B for a visitor. Privacy--well, you have to arrange that with Kyle.

B. Savannah's Crib -- actually my nephew tried this one. He learned how to climb out of it, so it was a pretty pointless sleeping option for him, bless my sister's heart. Admittedly, I have fallen asleep in there myself. It's not too bad so long as you like to sleep in the fetal position-- and stay that way. As far as privacy goes, the upstairs office overlooks into the nursery. So, even with the door closed there is still that question of, "can anybody see me?"

C. Cade's toddler bed. If you are less than 4 feet tall and 6 inches wide, it's perfect. Otherwise, see option D. Also, note the room has no door.

D. Leather couch -- if you are hot-blooded and sweat profusely in the night, you will thoroughly enjoy the sticky combination of skin/sweat/leather in the morning. Take note that the couch resides in the living room which is our home's only entryway into the kitchen. Loud, early-rising kids will happily double as your wake-up call at no extra charge.

C. Leather loveseat -- same as option D, just right for a midget.

Many of you have heard about my fabulous neighbor Barbara who has come to my rescue inumerable times. When it comes to our visitors, she really saves the day. Because of her, we still have family who speaks to us. Allow me to introduce to you, Option E.

E. Barb's Bed and Breakfast. Your own fully-furnished bedroom and bathroom. She even gets out these cute little crystal vases and cups with cold drinking water at your nightstand because the tap water out here is not delicious. Every time we have guests I swear to Kyle I am leaving him for the weekend to party with the guests at Barb's.

Kyle's Mother and Grandma were the first guests at Barb's B&B They each got their own room, and bathroom. They are also still speaking to us. BONUS! My parents were next. Loved it! Barb even served them a delicious breakfast the morning of their departure. Such a sweetheart. My parents are also still speaking to me. Next on the guest list is my Grandma Sheppard. She comes in tomorrow night and we are so excited to have her!!! And, she will be thrilled to know that she won't have to share a bed with Kyle, nor will she have to sleep on the couch. YES!

Now, I do have friends and family who have toughed it out at our house, and the fact that they are still speaking to us is amazing. Thank you dear sister and friends! We also had 5 members of Kyle's family here at one time, too. When I was like 9 months pregnant. In the middle of our kitchen remodel. We had no countertops, no sink, no dishwasher, and they loved us anyways. Needless to say, that visit was hostess lacking and Christmas dinner left much to be desired. I still cringe thinking about it. I will make it up to you guys, I swear!!!!! Except, wait... even with my sink, countertops and a dishwasher I'm a pretty lousy cook.

Well, this ain't no 5-star hotel or restaurant (or 4...or 3...), but I can make a delicious cake and a mean cuppa' hot chocolate. I also may be willing to share the ultra-soft blankets my Gramma has sewn for me over the years. So when you're ready to go off that diet, stop over at the Wildberry Cafe! We'll leave the light on for ya.

You forgot the mattress by the fireplace option. That wasn't so bad except for the fact that we were all suffering from a bad case of the FLU complements of Ty (and me). We love the Woodbury home!

I will have to agree ---- Barb's Bed and Breakfast was Amazing!
Nice comfy bed, sleep in late, movies to choose from. She was definitely sweet to us too.

What an awesome post and so well written as always. It made me laugh! I only have my room and the living room to offer and the only two guests who have come and stayed over night, was my friend Tara, who brought her air mattress and my Mom who took my bed and I took the couch! I missed my queen! She sounds like quite a great neighbor!

Ohhh yeah, Mel, that mattress is actually pretty comfy, isn't it? Love that bed. I prefer that one hands down. Now, if we actually had a guest room I'd set up my old day bed and sleep in it myself!

Teri, love that you can get some laughs out of our daily lives. Sounds like we need you out here since you've been watching HGTV! Our yard continues to look like a jungle!

t-thanks for the compliments. you're sweet.

e-now don't let these accommodations keep you from calling me when you find yourself in Chicago!

Hilarious post! And about your neighbor, that is awesome. I would love to be such a neighbor as your Neighbor Barb. One day I hope I will be able to accomadate others like she does.

Oh, and I'm expecting company in less than three weeks and I'm afraid I have as much to offer them as your options-- sans neighbor Barb.
